Synthetic Palm Thatch Roof Tiles: One System, Three Leaf Styles
Every ONETHATCH PALM panel begins with a real palm leaf. We take casts from natural fronds and use them to mould each panel in UV-stabilised high-density polyethylene (HDPE), with the colour compounded through the material, so each tile carries the veins, depth and gentle colour variation of the original. The three styles share the same size and fixing method, each with matching ridge and hip panels, so you can choose purely by the look you love.

- FAN: the fuller, rugged look of fan palm thatching from Panama, Costa Rica and the island of Dominica.
- RAINCAPE: the woven rain-cape texture of Mexican and Caribbean palapa roofs.
How to Install the Panels
Each 980 × 670 mm tile is fixed to the battens with stainless roofing screws through its flexible moulded binder strip. On a roof pitch of at least 18° (about 4:12), lay the courses at 220 mm (9 in) spacing, about 4.9 panels per m², and order around 10% extra for cutting. Installed to specification, the palm thatch panels need no solid deck or membrane, so palapas, tiki huts and beach bars keep their open, airy underside. Matching ridge and hip panels complete the roof, and installation guidelines come with every order.
Performance You Can Specify
- Fire: the FR version is rated Class A to ASTM E108 (Intertek report 220927005SHF-001); the standard NFR version carries no fire rating.
- Wind (NIPA style): no loss of attachment at 160 mph (260 km/h) in ASTM D3161 testing at PRI (report 2756T0002.1), and a pass in the Florida TAS 100 wind-driven rain test (report 2756T0003.1). These are laboratory results, not site design values.
- Weathering: passed 5,000 hours of ASTM G155 accelerated weathering at Micom Laboratories, Canada (report MI-25-17428-1), with no significant colour change.
- Material: PVC-free, 100% recyclable HDPE, made in our own ISO 9001 certified, solar-powered factory in Xiamen, China. We have made synthetic thatch since 1996.
- Warranty: 20-year limited warranty on FR and NFR versions.

Yes, the names describe the same product. ONETHATCH PALM is sold as panels, but specifiers also call them synthetic thatch roof tiles or shingles, because they are laid in overlapping courses, just like a tiled roof.
