A Synthetic Bali Thatch Roof With the Look of Alang-Alang
In Bali and across Indonesia, deep roofs of alang-alang grass, soft, generous and full of texture, crown villas, spa pavilions and garden gazebos. ONETHATCH STRAW (BALI) brings that look to your project as synthetic alang alang: layered strands in varied tones, pre-assembled into a synthetic thatch roofing panel that is ready to install.
Made from UV-stabilised HDPE, this synthetic thatch keeps its rustic Bali finish through tropical sun and rain, without the rot and re-thatching of natural grass. From Indonesia to Australia and beyond, this faux thatch crowns Bali huts, gazebos, villas, spa and yoga pavilions, and resort restaurants.

Alang-alang is a tall tropical grass (Imperata cylindrica) that has been used for generations to thatch roofs in Bali and across Indonesia. ONETHATCH STRAW (BALI) recreates its layered, rustic look as synthetic alang alang in HDPE, without the replacement cycle of natural grass.
Often, yes. If the frame is sound, the old thatch can be removed, a solid sub-deck added, and the hut re-roofed with ONETHATCH STRAW (BALI). A local builder or roofing contractor can fix the panels with stainless roofing screws. Send us photos and roof dimensions, and we will help you work out the panels you need.
Only the FR version is. ONETHATCH STRAW (BALI) comes in a Class A fire-retardant version, rated to ASTM E108, for villas, restaurants and resorts that need a fire-rated roof covering; the standard NFR version carries no fire rating.
Allow about 5 panels per m² of roof. Send us your roof drawing or dimensions, and we will calculate the exact quantity.
Production of a 40 ft container of ONETHATCH STRAW takes 30 days. Samples are free.
