ONETHATCH Woven Mat passed 5,000 hours of ASTM G155 accelerated weathering at Micom Laboratories, an independent Canadian laboratory, with no significant colour change; the report is available to specifiers. Our UV-stabiliser system was developed with BASF’s light-stabiliser laboratory in Shanghai. In the field, an ONETHATCH synthetic bamboo fence at Banyan Tree Maldives has been in use for six years with no visible colour change. We have woven and moulded synthetic bamboo in our own ISO 9001 factory in Xiamen since 1996; the plant runs on solar power.

Synthetic Bamboo Matting That Stays Flat, Clean and the Same Colour for 20 Years
A natural bamboo mat ceiling is one of the most atmospheric surfaces in tropical design, and one of the shortest-lived: the strips absorb humidity, sag between fixings, grow mould in kitchens and bathrooms, shed dust, and attract insects, so a restaurant ceiling is patched every couple of years. ONETHATCH Woven Mat reproduces the weave itself in HDPE fibre. Each sheet is hand-woven from 13 mm strands, so the pattern has the slight irregularity of a real mat, and the material does not absorb water, does not rot and does not feed insects. The ceiling you fit in 2026 is the ceiling guests photograph in 2046.

The same construction in a light beige palm-style weave, with subtle natural texture for walls and ceilings. Light, versatile and hand-finished, it is cut without unravelling and fits living spaces, workshops, bars, restaurants and theme parks.
ONETHATCH Woven Mat is fixed to a solid backing board, not to open battens. Mark the cut line, weld between the fibres along the line so the weave cannot unravel, cut, apply contact cement to the back, fix the mat to 4 mm plywood, mount the plywood on the ceiling or wall, then brad-nail every 150 mm in both directions.
