ONETHATCH bamboo poles are synthetic bamboo poles moulded from real bamboo in weatherable ASA resin, so every node, ring and grain line of the natural cane is reproduced in a material that does not split, grey or house insects. They are made for pergolas, ceilings, screens, columns and bar fronts in resorts, hotels, theme parks and zoos, in four formats: threaded poles that join to any height, one-length poles up to 6 m, two-sided slats and half-round poles for trim. Every format passed 5,000 hours of ASTM G155 UV weathering, carries a 20-year limited warranty, and is made in our own factory in Xiamen, China, since 1996. Bamboo poles are decorative cladding, not a structural material; where a non-load-bearing pole needs extra stiffness, the hollow core can be sleeved over a metal rod.

Each ONETHATCH bamboo pole is cast from a mould taken off a real bamboo cane, and the colour runs through the whole wall of the pole, so a scratch or a cut end shows bamboo colour, not white plastic. The nodes vary along the length, so no repeated pattern appears on a wall of poles. In 20 years of tropical sun, salt air and rain the pole keeps the look it had on day one, and that is what our 20-year limited warranty covers.

Sundried is the stock colour for every pole format and ships in 1–2 weeks. Other colours are made to order for larger projects.
02. Premium Textures
The surface carries the fine weathering marks of aged bamboo, moulded from the real cane, so a new pole reads as seasoned bamboo rather than a fresh green cut.
03. End Cap
End caps close the last thread of a threaded pole, hide the hollow core and keep water and insects out of the top of a post or the end of a rail.

01. Threaded Bamboo
Threaded bamboo poles come in 508 mm (20 in) sections that screw together, so two sections make about one metre and any height is reached without a joint showing. Cut the last section anywhere; both ends of the offcut still thread, so it screws onto the next cane and nothing is wasted. Threaded poles are held in stock in Sundried and ship by DHL or UPS, the right route for small quantities and for pergola, screen and bar-front jobs anywhere in the world. Sizes: 25 mm (1 in), 40 mm (1.5 in), 50 mm (2 in), 65 mm (2.5 in) and 75 mm (3 in), all in stock; one carton holds about 53 m of 40 mm, 30 m of 50 mm or 14 m of 75 mm.

02. One Length Bamboo
One-length bamboo poles are pre-cut to your length, up to 6 m, in Ø 25, 35, 45, 55, 75 and 95 mm, and are the default for commercial projects: ceilings, pergola rafters, column wraps and long screens where a continuous cane is wanted. All diameters are held in stock. One-length poles ship by freight, not courier, which is the economical route for a container or a pallet.

03. Two-Sided Bamboo Slats
Two-sided bamboo slats show the bamboo surface on both faces, so they work as open screens, woven panels and slatted ceilings that are seen from both sides. The 33 mm slat is 7 mm thick and runs up to 6 m; the 20 mm and 15 mm slats are 2 mm thick and run up to 3 m.

04. Split Bamboo Pole
Split bamboo poles are half-round poles moulded from a real cane cut lengthwise, made in consistent sizes so a run of trim lines up. Use them to finish the corners, edges and seams of bamboo panels, to cover ceiling beams and column edges, and as pergola and pavilion trim. Synthetic Bamboo Poles: Which Format for Which Job
ONETHATCH makes bamboo poles in four formats, all moulded from real bamboo in weatherable ASA resin and all in the same Sundried colour (a hand-painted weathering finish adds the marks of aged bamboo), so threaded poles, one-length poles, slats and half-rounds can be mixed on one project without a colour step.
For a bar front, a garden screen or a pergola that a contractor builds on site, we recommend the threaded pole: it reaches any height from stock sections, the offcuts are reused, and a carton goes by courier. For a ceiling of 4 to 6 m spans or a facade of hundreds of poles, the one-length pole is the economical choice, cut to your drawing and shipped by freight. Where bamboo panels meet a corner or a beam, the matching half-round pole finishes the edge in the same colour. The core of every round pole is hollow, so a threaded pole slides over a steel or concrete column, and cables or irrigation lines can run inside a one-length pole. Because ASA does not absorb water, the poles can also be submerged in waterpark, aquarium and poolside features where a natural cane would rot.

Low-cost synthetic bamboo is usually polyethylene loaded with about 30 % mineral filler to make a soft polymer stiff enough to imitate a cane. The filler does not bond to the polymer, UV and moisture attack the gaps, and after about three years the filler shows at the surface as white chalk. Polyethylene also expands and contracts with every day-night temperature swing, and at every screw that movement is restrained until the pole cracks at the fixing. ONETHATCH bamboo poles are reinforced ASA: stiff without mineral loading, colour-through, with lower thermal movement, so the pole does not chalk and does not crack at the screw. The same ASA grade has passed more than 15,000 hours of QUV testing in FCFC’s own laboratory, separate from the independent ASTM G155 result. Our UV-stabiliser system was developed with BASF’s light-stabiliser laboratory in Shanghai.
Our field proof is a real installation: the ONETHATCH synthetic bamboo fence at Banyan Tree Maldives, made from the same ASA material as these poles, has been in use for six years with no visible colour change.
