Bamboo Pelupuh: Flattened Bamboo Panels

Pelupuh is the Indonesian name for bamboo that has been split and beaten flat into a broad, board-like sheet. Our synthetic version is molded from real hand-flattened bamboo in ASA, so you get the authentic texture with far less upkeep than natural flattened bamboo.

Yes, it is designed for straight-pitched roof planes such as villa roofs and resort pavilions, but it is not suitable for curved roofs. On a roof it goes over a solid deck with a waterproof membrane, at about 12 shingles per m². Send us your roof drawings so we can check the roof geometry and confirm where Pelupuh works; see the Pelupuh bamboo roofing shingle for full details.

Yes, it works as decorative bamboo cladding for restaurant walls, resort entrances, villa walls and other feature spaces. Its broad, irregular pattern breaks up large surfaces, a bolder alternative to our more uniform faux bamboo wall panels.

It comes in three colors, Young, Sundried and Aged, shown in the color chart above, and each shingle measures 333 × 333 mm, about 12 per m². Pelupuh is made to order for each project, and free samples let you compare the finishes first.

Our synthetic version keeps the look of natural flattened bamboo while resisting the mold, rot and insects that wear down the real material outdoors. It passed 5,000 hours of ASTM G155 accelerated weathering (Micom Laboratories, Canada) with no significant color change and is backed by a 20-year limited warranty. The standard pelupuh is not fire-rated, but an ASTM E84 Class A fire-retardant (FR) version is available to order. Tell us your project’s fire requirements when you send your drawings, and we will include the FR version in your quote.
